I was Charlie’s SkillsUSA advisor. I cannot express the impact Charlie had on me. In Charlie’s senior year at tech, he and two friends, James Jones, and Alex Bender came to me as the SkillsUSA advisor to let me know they were very interested in participating in the NJ SkillsUSA welding competition. With that being said, a wonderful student/advisor relationship was forged. Those three students became what I consider to be my 3 boys. They worked hard and were very serious about the competition. So serious, they took the GOLD MEDAL for NJ and went onto Nationals. Where I had the pleasure to go as their chaperone. I got to know all three boys pretty well. When I heard of Charlie’s passing it broke my heart. What, one of my boys? Charlie was kind, talented, respectful, cooperative and so much more. Even today I consider them my boys. Understand along with being the SkillsUSA advisor, I also teach Cosmetology at Tech and am a mom to 3 daughters. So to have such a great relationship with three boys was pretty amazing. Charlie will forever be a part of my heart and always one of my boys.
